Hi and welcome!

I'm a Momma, wife and artist. With 3 of my 4 kids almost grown, I can look back and share with you everything I learned on my favorite subject, raising a family. Like Albert Einstein said "Rejoice with your family in the wonderful land of life" and though things may get messy, you can't really go wrong. xoox

fun with my family

hosting good friends in summer

We are lucky to have friends.  Wait.....I mean.... we are lucky to be able to thank them for being our friends by treating them to some fun on the lake!   I'll start with something yummy like this...

I'm afraid the wheels all fall off the bus after breakfast>

some slow cooker stuff; cuz I'll be on the boat:

don't hate me, but I might try to make these:

But, in reality.  when the kids notice it's 8 o'clock and the grown ups are still in the horshoe pit; I'm hoping they can follow this recipe.

Can't wait to eat, drink & be merry with our friends on the lake!

happy 4th of july!

is this a verb in your house too?  I like me a good old fashioned wall calendar.  I don't use my phone. what if I lost it? which if you know me; is a significant possiblilty...so the ugly wall calendar it is.  Any cute ones out there?

SUMMER WISH LIST~here's what ours looks like so far....

Ugh, don't barf from the cuteness.  Can you tell which ones I came up with? (chess; cleaning..)

My favorite is the no fighting including sunblock

Here's what MY summer wish list would look like in photos.

...lots of sleeping and reading......but i realize .this is about as plausible as the no fighting about sunblock

secret mother daughter love notes

I stash love notes in their pillows, write quotes on the family chalkboard and put jokes in their lunches. (I know you're thinking BARF-O-LA, gag me with a spoon.  But, when you sometimes have no food in the house except stale cheexe and old fruit, a note goes a long way towards forgiveness).

But sometimes they need more than what even a good knock knock joke can fix.

I notice each of my kids prefer a different kind of communication when it comes to helping them to feel better about life's little ups and downs.    One of my daughters prefers to see it written down.  When she was going through some new beginning and having a tough time, I got a notebook from minted and started a love note journal.

I write a note in there and leave it on her pillow.  She writes one back and leaves it on my pillow and on and on.   She can ask me questions, tell me about a problem, a bad dream or just laugh about an inside joke. Sometimes there's a few weeks between entries, but when we remember,  it's the best!

It's been almost 3 years now, and I've noticed she has needed it less and less.  I am so glad we got to write it all down, because I know I would have forgotten it all.

Now, she will always have a reminder of how hard she worked, the hurdles she overcame, her hilarious sense of humor, and most of all, how loved she is.

Don't delay, start one today!   Did I mention I'm also a poet?

Momma needs a lot of help!

Happy Almost Mother's Day! I am thrilled to be able to order everyone around guilt free on this day.

I don't really make everyone clean all day, maybe for an hour, But, my entire point is to show you........THIS ......

THE AMAZING "CHORE DRAWER" (patent pending, TM)

The Handy Dandy Chore drawer has pre-filled cards with household chores written on them.  There are two types of drawers.  Mild and Spicy!

Mild has things like sweep kitchen floor, take out garbage, fold laundry.  your average run of the mill chore set.

Spicy chores are named for how the kids typically react when asked to do them.  Hot and bothered.   Like polishing wood tables, sorting socks, dusting ceiling fans, cleaning fridge or pantry, etc.   Oh the pain!

But, there are also 2 GET OUT OF CHORE FREE cards in each box!  And a few blank ones you can use to fit your needs like clean the chicken coop, or weed the garden, massage your feet...

The kids close their eyes, and reach in and grab a card.

So, raise your white flag and ask for help!  Get your Chore Drawer today!

Put your feet up and watch the magic* unfold!

When your child goes off to College

Warning! Do not under any circumstances pull out that box of old photos at any point in time during their senior year.  Don't do it!

Of course you will, because the yearbook needs a baby photo, there's a graduation slide show to make...and pretty soon you're knee deep in a pile of 4x6 memories sobbing uncontrollably.

On top of that, you will come to the sickly realization that you have way more pictures than are currently surrounding you.  Where are they? Omg, they're on your old cam corder, random photo CD's, that old phone!   Oh, the pain! The good news is this horrible realization will snap you out of your sad reverie.  The bad news is, you now have another project on your to-do list.

I'm going to do it.  Print out all my old photos currently in digital pugatory. I did a google search with the words..."cheapest photo prints" since I have roughly 8,000,000 to do.

And, I found this!  MAILPIX.com   0.1cents per 4x6 photo every wednesday!  And today's wednesday!

Do this people. So, that when your time comes to send that precious one off to college, you can spend the time hugging them and discreetly measuring them for a life size photo you'll hang up when they're gone. Ya know, normal stuff.
